Buddy began his career in the medical device field in 2017 with Dexcom, a leading manufacturer of continuous glucose monitors (CGMs), after studying electrical engineering at Arizona State University. As a medical device sales representative at Dexcom, Buddy discovered a deep sense of fulfillment in helping elderly patients with type 2 diabetes and children with type 1 diabetes access potentially life-saving CGM technology.

In 2019, when Dexcom relocated its sales department from Mesa, Arizona, to San Diego, California, Buddy chose to remain in Arizona, his adopted home state since 2013. During his time with Dexcom, Buddy assisted hundreds of Medicare beneficiaries in obtaining coverage for CGM devices and recognized that some patients faced challenges due to their insurance plans. This experience motivated him to pursue a health insurance license to better serve seniors, ensuring they find the right Medicare plan that covers critical needs like CGMs.

Buddy earned his Arizona health and life insurance license in February 2020, scoring above 90% on both exams. Despite the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, which limited face-to-face interactions, Buddy excelled in guiding seniors through the complexities of Medicare over the phone, demonstrating exceptional empathy and expertise.

Now with 4 years of experience in Medicare sales conducted exclusively over the telephone, Buddy joins Medicare Health Plan Advisors. While he values the relationships he’s built remotely, Buddy is eager to engage more with his clients in person, fostering long-term connections and providing ongoing support as their needs evolve, ultimately helping them navigate their healthcare options and improve their quality of life.

While he helps seniors with their Medicare needs during the day, he also performs around 100 evening/weekend shows a year as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist in his country band, the Buddy Martell Band.
